How much does a website cost in Sydney? $399 to $3,500+

The number on the quote is often not the number you end up paying. I'm Remo. I build websites for a fixed $997, live by Friday once you approve the design.

The range: $399 to $3,500 and up

I checked Sydney providers in August 2026. Here's the spread for a small business website.

Type of buildTypical priceWhat you usually get
Template build $399 – $800 A stock theme with your details dropped in. Few changes, and little support after.
Freelancer or small studio $800 – $1,495 A semi-custom site. Quality depends a lot on the person.
Agency starting package $3,500 + A managed project with meetings and handovers.
Webbie standard website $997 fixed Custom design and words, built to bring in calls. 1 call, live by Friday once you approve the design.

Against a freelancer at $800 to $1,495, what I add is a fixed price and a Friday date. Both are agreed before I start, and the site is built to bring in calls.

The cheapest builds are usually a template with few changes. Cheap hosting, light support. That's fine if the website only has to exist. If it has to bring in calls, that's a different job.

Where does the $3,500 agency price go?

A standard website at a Sydney agency starts around $3,500 — and most of that pays for the building, the managers and the handovers. Out here, you only pay for the website.

An agency has a lot to cover. An account manager passes on your feedback, and there are project meetings and paperwork on top. In my experience the website itself is a smaller share of the bill than you'd think.

Agencies need all of that to run. It's just how their bill is built. I run on 1 call and no meetings. So I can charge a lot less.

6 costs the build price doesn't include

The build price is what people compare. It isn't the only cost. A website also needs these.

  • Hosting, every month, for as long as the site is live.
  • A domain name, set up once and renewed each year.
  • Security and software updates, or it slowly breaks.
  • Speed upkeep. A slow site quietly loses people.
  • Content changes when your prices, hours or services change.
  • Visitor stats, so you know if it's working at all.

Bought one by one, these add up. They also get forgotten. The Done For You plan covers hosting, domain setup, speed work, updates and a monthly stats report for $97 a month. It includes the website itself at half price.

5 questions people ask about cost

How much does a website cost in Sydney?

In August 2026, Sydney providers ranged from about $399 to $3,500 and up. The low end is a template build. The high end is an agency's starting package. I charge a fixed $997 for a standard website and $1,997 for a 3D website. On the Done For You plan, either one is half price, plus $97 a month.

Why do agency websites cost $3,500 or more?

In my experience most of an agency price pays for the people and the process around the website. The website itself is a smaller share of the bill. I run on 1 call and no meetings. That's why I can charge a lot less.

What ongoing costs does a website have?

Hosting, a domain name, security and software updates, speed upkeep, content changes and visitor stats. These are the costs people forget when they compare build prices. The Done For You plan covers hosting, domain setup, speed work, updates and a monthly stats report. That's $499 upfront, then $97 a month.

Is a $399 website worth it?

It depends what you need it to do. A $399 build is usually a template with few changes and little support. If the website only has to exist, that can be fine. If it has to bring in calls and bookings, the design and words have to be built for that. That's a different job.

Do I own the website?

On the Done For You plan, the half-price build is part of joining the plan. Full ownership and all source files transfer to you once the website's value has been paid.
